2025 Conference of the International Guild of Musicians in Dance:

"Ghost Heroes and Servant Souls"

 

This three day conference will feature enriching sessions, socializing, playing opportunities, and community building for dance musicians! Friday highlights will include a welcome and kick-off, Belhaven Univerity ballet and modern class observations, and the first session. Day two will include a ballet piano circus and modern class round robin, more sessions, and an evening improv jam. Sunday will round off the conference with the guild business meeting, award ceremony, and more sessions. Each day will conclude with an opportunity to eat and socialize with fellow musicians and dancers!

Who can attend?
Anyone interested in music and dance who with a current guild membership is welcome to attend. If your membership has lapsed, now is the time to renew! If you'd like to attend and have never been a guild member, great news - Your paid conference registration will include a free one-year membership!

Call for Proposals for Scholarly or Artistic Session

 

As we are in our 35th year, it seems appropriate to reflect on where we came from,

what we have been doing, where we are, and where we are headed in the future.
Some 
members have suggested that we are Ghost Heroes and/or Servant Souls.

Coincidentally, the motto of the host institution, Belhaven University, is “To Serve Not to

be Served.” You can consider any of these concepts as a point of departure for your

proposal. We ask you to use the following guidelines as you prepare your proposal.

 

If your proposal is not accepted and you are still planning to attend, we will need

volunteers in various capacities: Zoom moderator, session moderator, and performers

in the informal Improvisation session, as well as musicians in the ballet and modern

class round robins. These volunteer positions will come with a letter of invitation.

 

Your proposal will have three sections: Abstract (400 word maximum) Biography (200 word maximum), and equipment/room needs. Details and sample proposal in the proposal form below:

Submissions are due by 11:59 pm US Central time
on Tuesday, June 15, 2025. Following review, presenters will be notified via email by July 1, 2025.
